Among the most highly respected accrediting agencies is the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). You may first want to choose whether you will access classes online or travel to a college campus in the Dobbin TX area. Clearly location will be critical if you choose the latter, and the price of tuition no doubt will be an important qualification as well. So in order to perform your due diligence so that you can arrive at your final selection, following are a few questions that you need ask each ultrasound tech school prior to making a decision.

Are the Sonogram Technician Colleges Accredited? Most ultrasound technician colleges have earned some form of accreditation, whether national or regional. However, it’s still important to make sure that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly regarded accrediting organizations in the field of sonography is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). Programs receiving accreditation from the JRC-DMS have gone through an extensive review of their instructors and course materials. If the college is online it might also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets online or distance education. All accrediting organizations should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to guaranteeing a premium education, accreditation will also assist in acquiring financial assistance and student loans, which are often not accessible for non-accredited programs. Accreditation can also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And many Dobbin TX health facilities will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry-level jobs.

Are Internships Offered? Ask if the sonogram technician schools you are interested in have partnerships with Dobbin TX clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Internships are not only a terrific way to get practical experience in a clinical setting, they are also a way to satisfy the practical training requirement for most programs. As an ancillary benefit, they can assist students and graduates form professional connections in the Dobbin medical community and assist with job placement.

Is Job Placement Help provided? You will probably want to secure employment quickly after graduation, but getting that first job in a new field can be challenging without assistance. Find out if the ultrasound tech programs you are assessing have job assistance programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are an excellent sign that the schools have large networks and great relationships with Texas healthcare employers. It also confirms that their graduates are highly regarded and sought after.

Where is the Program Located? For a lot of students, the college they pick will have to be within travelling distance of their Dobbin TX home. Students who have opted to attend classes online obviously will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of importance. Something to bear in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a school that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges frequently charge a higher tuition for those students that live outside of their districts.

How Large are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of person that likes to sit far in the rear of the classroom or hide in the crowd, you will likely prefer a small class size. Small classes allow for more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the schools you are looking at what the average teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your ultimate determination. This will also give you an opportunity to speak with several of the students and instructors to get their perspectives regarding the ultrasound tech program also.

Can the School Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to confirm that the ultrasound tech  college you ultimately choose can offer the class schedule you need. This is especially crucial if you decide to continue working while you attend school. If you must schedule night or weekend classes in the Dobbin TX area, make sure that they are offered. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, check if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would have to enroll in. Also, find out what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss because of illness, work or family emergencies.

Dobbin is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 170 in 2000, although some estimates place that figure at close to 300.[1][2] Dobbin is part of the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan Statistical Area.

    Dobbin is located at 30°21′56″N 95°46′34″W / 30.36556°N 95.77611°W / 30.36556; -95.77611 (30.3654842, -95.7760598 ). It is situated at the junction of State Highway 105 and FM 1486, approximately 12 miles north of Magnolia.[2]

In 1878, the Central and Montgomery Railway built a line from Montgomery to Navasota.[2] Two years later, a post office was established in the community under the name Bobbin. It became a shipping point for cotton and lumber in the mid-1880s and had a population of 250 by the 1890s. That number had declined to 168 by 1903. A few years later, the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway built through Bobbin on its way to Mexia and Houston, making the community a railroad junction. In 1909, Bobbin's name was changed to Dobbin.[1]
