    Roann, Indiana

    There are two theories on how the town of Roann got its name. One source claims that the community was named for Roanne, France.[7] Another tells a legend about how a father saw his daughter on a boat in a dangerous current and was shouting at her "Row, Ann!"[8]

    As of the census[3] of 2010, there were 479 people, 186 households, and 130 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,082.6 inhabitants per square mile (804.1/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.5% White, 0.6% Native American, 0.4% Asian, and 0.4% from two or more races.

    There were 186 households of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.1% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
