Therefore in order to complete your due diligence so that you can arrive at your ultimate selection, below are several questions that you need ask each sonography program before deciding.

Are the Sonogram Technician Colleges Accredited? The majority of sonogram technician colleges have received some form of accreditation, whether national or regional. Even so, it’s still important to confirm that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of sonography is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). Programs receiving accreditation from the JRC-DMS have gone through a detailed evaluation of their teachers and educational materials. If the college is online it may also receive accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on online or distance learning. All accrediting agencies should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides ensuring a quality education, accreditation will also assist in getting financial aid and student loans, which are frequently not available for non-accredited schools. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And many Swords Creek VA employers will only hire graduates of an accredited school for entry level positions.

Are Internships Provided? Inquire if the ultrasound technician colleges you are evaluating have partnerships with Swords Creek VA hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Internships are not only an excellent way to obtain hands on training in a clinical setting, they are also a means to fulfill the clinical training requirement for the majority of programs. As a supplemental benefit, they may help students and graduates develop professional relationships in the Swords Creek medical community and help with obtaining employment.

Is Job Placement Assistance available? You will probably wish to hit the ground running after graduation, but getting that initial job in a new field can be difficult without help. Ask if the ultrasound tech schools you are considering have job placement programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are a good sign that the schools have sizable networks and great relationships with Virginia healthcare employers. It also confirms that their students are highly regarded and in demand.

Where is the Program Located? For a number of students, the school they pick will need to be within commuting distance of their Swords Creek VA home. Those who have decided to attend classes online naturally will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of concern. One thing to keep in mind is that if you decide to enroll in a school that is out of state or even out of your local area, you may be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges typically charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges generally charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the type of person that likes to sit far in the rear of the classroom or get lost in the crowd, you will undoubtedly prefer a small class size. Smaller classes permit more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the schools you are considering what the typical teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may want to monitor one or more classes before making your final decision. This will also give you an opportunity to speak with a few of the instructors and students to get their opinions regarding the ultrasound tech program as well.

Can the School Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to confirm that the ultrasound tech  program you finally select can furnish the class schedule you need. This is especially essential if you opt to continue working while you attend school. If you need to schedule night or weekend classes in the Swords Creek VA area, make sure that they are available. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, find out if that is an alternative and how many credit hours or courses you would have to carry. It runs from State Route 80 near Honaker east to U.S. Route 460 (US 460) at Raven, east concurrently with US 460 and U.S. Route 460 Business (US 460 Bus.) into downtown Richlands, and north to State Route 616 at Jewell Ridge on the Tazewell–Buchanan county line.

There it curved gradually east along a smaller creek, crosses a summit, and runs alongside other creeks to the county line at West Raven.[4]

Upon entering Tazewell County, SR 67 again parallels the Clinch River at Raven, following an old alignment of US 460 to Doran. SR 67 leaves Richlands to the north, running alongside Big Creek past Seaboard and Coaldan to near Jewell Ridge, rising onto Smith Ridge (the Tennessee Valley Divide) and ending at SR 616 at the Buchanan County line.
