Brookfield is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States, situated within the southern foothills of the Berkshire Mountains.[1] The population was 16,487 at the 2010 census.[2] The town is located 43 miles (69 km) northeast of New York City, making it part of the New York metropolitan area. When incorporated in 1778, the town's name was changed to Brookfield in honor of Brooks, who was still the minister.[4]
