Schools receiving accreditation from the JRC-DMS have gone through an extensive examination of their instructors and course materials. If the program is online it can also receive accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on distance or online learning. All accrediting agencies should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Along with guaranteeing a premium education, accreditation will also help in acquiring financial assistance and student loans, which are frequently not offered for non-accredited programs. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And a number of Cambridge KS health facilities will only hire graduates of an accredited college for entry level jobs.

Are Internships Offered? Inquire if the sonogram technician programs you are interested in have partnerships with Cambridge KS clinics or hospitals for internship programs. High and rapid placement rates are an excellent sign that the schools have sizable networks and good relationships with Kansas healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their students are well regarded and sought after.

Where is the School Located? For a lot of students, the school they decide on will need to be within travelling distance of their Cambridge KS home. Those who have decided to attend classes online obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. Something to consider is that if you choose to enroll in a program that is out of state or even out of your local area, you might be required to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges commonly charge a higher tuition for those students that live outside of their districts.

What Size are the Classes ? Unless you are the kind of person that prefers to sit way in the back of class or hide in the crowd, you will probably want a smaller class size. Smaller classes enable more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the schools you are looking at what the average teacher to student ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may prefer to sit in on one or more classes before making your ultimate determination. This will also give you an opportunity to converse with several of the instructors and students to get their perspectives regarding the sonogram tech program also.

Can the School Accommodate your Schedule? And last you need to confirm that the sonographer  program you ultimately pick can offer the class schedule you need. This is especially important if you decide to continue working while you attend classes. If you need to schedule night or weekend classes in the Cambridge KS area, make sure that they are available. If you can only attend part-time, find out if that is an alternative and how many credit hours or courses you would need to enroll in. Also, ask what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss as a result of work, illness or family emergencies.
